We booked a refrigerated load with AFC Logistics, working with Harry Miranda, Account Manager. At delivery, the receiver claimed the product was not frozen enough and told the broker it needed to continue freezing. The broker asked whether our driver followed the temperature instructions, which he did. We offered to do a reefer download to prove the unit was set and operating according to the instructions. AFC Logistics was happy that we were willing to provide the reefer download, but when we asked if they would reimburse the $300 reefer download cost if the download proved there was no fault on our side, they refused. As a carrier, we do not pay out of pocket for documentation that protects the broker/customer when we did nothing wrong, especially when the download would confirm the driver followed instructions. Reimbursement in that situation is standard practice with many professional brokers. We sent an email asking how they wanted to proceed and received no response. After that, AFC underpaid the load and marked the issue against us as if we did not follow instructions, without properly verifying the facts or agreeing to cover the cost of proof. To other carriers: be very careful. Based on our experience, if AFC Logistics has an opportunity to shift responsibility onto the carrier, they may take it. We offered a reefer download to prove our driver followed instructions, but they refused to reimburse the cost even if the download cleared us of fault. Once we would not absorb that cost on a small load, they used the situation against us and underpaid the load. In our opinion, that is not fair, professional, or carrier-friendly business practice.

Been working with AFC logistics quite a long time, more even with Pete Balica - he's been helping me out and he’s honestly the best — super friendly, always quick to respond, and makes sure everything goes smoothly and understands every situation which might happen on a daily basis .
