Baylor Trucking INC

After refusing a load to a place where I felt unsafe due to some disturbing reviews by other drivers, and a Facebook page that showed that place to be a racially hostile environment, I was told by the manger of Baylor that I had to agree to take any load anywhere, regardless of if I was in fear for my life or if even it it was a SUNDOWN town (I am african american). I asked him about Vidor, Texas which is a known place that truckers of color should not go, and he said that if disptched a load there, then I would be required to take it there regardless of if I felt safe or not. I couldn't believe the way he was communicating with me as this had been cleared with my dispatcher previously who didn't have a problem with my decision. I was in shock and he did not care. I asked him if he knew the history of sundown towns and what people had been through in those places. Instead of answering me, he told that he could show me a picture of his black boyfriend. WHAT DOES HIS BLACK BOYFRIEND HAVE TO DO WITH MY SAFETY??? I guess that was his way of trying to tell me he was not racist which had nothing to do with the conversation. He was cold and nasty in his tone and did not budge on his stance. When I refused to agree to those terms, he told me that he is taking my response as my resignation. I told him that if this how they felt and treated people, then I didn't want to be there. Disturbing. I really liked the other staff at Baylor for the most part and never really had any huge issue until that meeting. Any company who does not care about the safety and wellbeing of ALL of their driver's, should be carefully considered. I wasn't going to say anything, but I needed to let other people know what could potentially happen if you decide to come here. Unfortunate because I had not planned to leave that company for a while.

Was considering this company, but all negative driver reviews cannot be dishonest/lies. Gave 3 stars to be neutral and fair to the company.
