Former driver here. I started back in the H.O. Wolding days. There couldn't be a bigger disparity between the two. H.O.W actually cared about how their drivers were treated and there was a definite family feel to it. Bison turned it into a cold corporate machine. I got the impression that many of the higher up folks in the office viewed themselves as being more important than the drivers. It's the DRIVERS that pay their salary. Hometime was chopped in half all the while they tell you they offer generous hometime. The only really good thing was their health insurance. I had 2 dispatchers over 14 years with HO. I had 6 different dispatchers in 2.5 years under Bison. 3 were competent to excellent. The other 3 were completely incompetent. The level of frustration along with a paycut was enough to push me out the door. The amount of lies that come directly from the VP of operations is absolutely despicable. Avoid this company at all costs.

I've been here 18 yrs and I never seen a company change so fast and lose drivers and office help as quick as this place, had 1 dispatchers when I was with ho wilding then bison came in and screwed it all up now I have had six different dispatchers and the one I got now is a nice guy but is useless as a dispatcher, the miles have went to #### and the load that ho wolding had established have just about vanished, now they want us to run the hartt crap LDS that have no miles and I'm he to run not sit on my butt, we have lost over 2 million with the water LDS and that came right from a person I know In customer service so I believe it but dont worry this place won't be here in long I give them 2 yrs at the most so I will be looking for a new job soon, I'm kinda hoping they just say park the trks so I get pushed into leaving

Company is going out of business, at least in the US. They are currently selling off a ton of their equipment and eliminating jobs in order to shore up losses. Recently, they cut the pay of most of their drivers. They eliminated their guaranteed pay program and PTO, having drivers pay out of their own pocket into a "vacation bank." They no longer pay for actual miles driven, but have joined much of the industry by paying zipcode to zipcode for their mileage, and shave earnings even further. By comparison, in 2024 before the changes, a driver could expect to bring home around $1100-1500 per week after taxes. In 2025, post pay cuts, $500‐700 per week is the norm. Expect to only drive 1300-1500 miles per week. It is next to impossible to find equipment without issues, both in their tractors and trailers. Expect to be dismissed quickly if you bring anything in for repairs, or sit for at least a day for anything more than a pair of wipers, because they no longer can afford to staff an adequate maintenance team at any of their terminals.

good dispatch. helpful driver line. trucks are not the best. but not terribly bad. they do not check the truck thoruoghly before they give it to you. trailers have lots of problems. do not like to pay layover. or detention, even though they claim that they do.

Started here as a new CDL driver. The training I received at their Auburn, ME terminal was amazing! The first 6 months on my own as a northeast regional driver went very well. Then, Bison started implementing huge changes, including a "driver pay restructure". This resulted in pay cuts for almost all employees (a few did get some modest pay raises), including a pay cut for myself of almost 10% from the pay rate that I was hired at. Trucks are well maintained, trailers not so much. Most "drivers" do not perform pre/post trips on trailers or report any issues for repair, which leaves any problems for the next guy to deal with. Zero accountability for those who refuse to do their job. I would say Bison is a decent company for new drivers to get the initial experience required to move on to better companies (which I did after 13 months).
