    Retired after 30years used to be a great place to work . You are a robot now to them with 70 hours a week all fake they do not care about you everything is protend. Horrible working conditions mainly do to watching every move you make what you say how you act you constantly have to defend yourself over some accusations.

    Solid Company compared to OTR, but there are plenty of options out there. Take into consideration caveats like Slip-Seating, No Pet Policy, Strict Dress Code and Micromanagement. If you can deal with these then you should have a decent experience.

    As a 22 yr. driver at Walmart, for the elite transportation company in the industry. As with any transport company, longevity plays a role in the oppurtunities available to drivers. Only wish I'd have went there 10 yrs earlier.

    Ok, so what to say about Walmart. Sam Walton is gone, so the pride and joy of his company is also gone. Corporate has taken over and it seems like they are cutting more money away from the transportation. You have to do your own research, because Walmart drivers are offered a $5k referral bonus (Which they just cut down to $2000) if you use their driver number when you apply and you get hired. So if a Walmart driver says "Use my driver number on your application and it will go to the top of the pile".. guess what, its a lie, they will tell you anything because they just want the bonus. Walmart is, i even want to say more than doubling down on slip seating, putting more programs like "7 guys sharing 5 trucks" "5/2-5/3 having 3 guys share 2 trucks" and "6/2 schedules with 4 guys sharing 3 trucks" in order to cut down the fleet costs of having enough trucks for everybody. As I said, DO YOUR OWN RESEARCH, Walmart works out great for some people, it doesn't for others. The one thing I will say finishing up this review, is that if you think this is the same Walmart Transportation that was around when Sam Walton was alive, you are GRAVELY mistaken. They have cut costs at the expense of the drivers, they have added TONS of backhauls where vendors can be 3-4 hours for a live load, reducing trucks out of the fleet at most DC's forcing more slip seating and they are now getting more smaller Neighborhood market stores while still sending the 53 sleeper trucks in. PTO is great, anytime you need time off, you just ask if the days available (Require 24hr notice), if it is they will put in a calendar event and get you back to the DC to make it home. Also for for the future, they have a great schedule 5/5, 5 days on, 5 days off so you don't have to work 80 hours a week until youre 65.. they even have part time 1 week a month and keep your benefits schedule... of course you need seniority for those schedules to bid on.

    Slip seating is completely ridiculous if you are OTR and I will die on that hill. Most drivers keep them clean though. Walmart drivers have to be the most stuck up judgmental professional ### kissers I've ever seen in my life though. I keep to myself and still run into issues sometimes….Also working here is George Orwell 1984 100%. I swear to god there's 5 cameras for every employee. Big brother is watching. Better not enter the truck with 2 points of contact or the fbi will knock down your door. You are basically satan if you don't follow their stupid a** rules to a T. It pays good but my last company paid almost as good and I literally had zero micromanagement and had my own truck. Putting my two weeks in here asap. Money isn't everything. Good equipment, nice 6/3 schedule. A lot of people like it here and I would still encourage you to apply because you might have a better experience than I did.

    There is so much to say about this company. When you first start out like most companies, they sell you the world like this is the best place to work but what they don't tell is this is what I call a local otr position i worked at the pagelad Sc Dc, and lived less than an hour and a 1/2 away, You are expected to stay in the truck and layover for 5 days, the problem I had was what was considered a layover? if I slept in the truck 3 maybe 5 hours when I woke up I would have 5 to 7 hours to kill, before I could come on duty and pageland is one of the crummiest DC's out there. There are no amenities to keep the drivers entertained. So I would leave the property and go to the gym, shopping or sometimes home to see my newborn when it came to their attention that I was leaving the property on my 10, they wanted to know where I was going and doing.. That is my time and It is none of their business what I do as long as i'm back b4 my gate time, apparently we had a disagreement of what a layover was. I thought a layover was when I sleep in the truck and don't sleep in my bed at my home, they say a layover only counts when you stay in the truck for 8 hours to be considered a layover anything less would be stealing from the company. Some people need more sleep than others, I DONT especially when you work the night shift, it's hard to sleep during the day especially when the sun hits your face, I have a tendency to get up and move around and run errands other than that, they are constantly on your driving techniques and constantly on your speed. The truck only goes 65 miles an hour. I feel they are too controlling. They say they hire you because you are a professional and because of your driving record. Yet they are constantly telling you how to drive, and most of them don't even have a cdl

    Made 117000 first full year including 8 weeks of paternity leave at my full average daily pay. My ADP is $420. Average $2200-$2300 a week pay and 2800-3400 miles a week at my west coast DC. Not sure if that's normal at other DC or not as I keep to myself here. Great equipment, great dispatchers, great fleet maintenance although some shop personnel are not friendly or helpful. Slip seating sucks but my DC requires clean trucks in and out. Any issues are taken care of immediately. Hands-free phone usage allowed but absolutely no texting on drive line or yard move you will be fired if they see it. 65mph governor and you will be in trouble if you go above 75mph. FOREWARD FACING ONLY cameras. Safety is all common sense stuff, 3 points of contact into or out of the truck, and get out and look and walk around before backing. Free clean showers and towels at all DCs.

    If you don't mind living at your base terminal and you live further away than 50 miles. I would not recommend it. Walmart is looking for other Walmart drivers. What I mean by that is it's a mentality that they are after. They're looking for the drivers that want a work family and hang out at work. I wasn't the type. I lasted for a year and some months, but my personal life changed and it really wasn't feasible anymore. I lived two hours away from the DC, and if something came up at home that I couldn't get to work because either an appointment ran late, traffic, something with my wife's health it was just too much to juggle. Also, the staff at most DC's were great people and some stores as well. Even in full uniform I felt racially profiled, with random employees asking me could they help me with something, but what they were implying is why is a black guy in the back of the store? It felt unnerving and off putting. It was just one store but several stores that were like that. Most stores do not care about Walmart drivers let alone their own job. Walmart is a place you have to put a full commitment in to reap the benefits. Most drivers have been there 10 plus years. Some are beyond neat freaks, especially those with seniority. If your truck is in the shop, guess what you get to sleep in another truck. I didn't care for that. Typically it was a truck some one with 20 years seniority drove and he was off work that day. So you have to pull your bedding and whatever else you already have situated in your truck to a different truck, then clean that truck and then grab your stuff and put it back in your truck once it's ready. I also didn't like that for your medical card renewal you have to go with the place Walmart deems appropriate. Typically, that meant you hung out at the DC when you could just easily go somewhere near your home and get it updated. There are office politics. The money was ok. Some weeks you'd get a big check and others seemed to barely get by. This was a great job 20 years ago, but not in this day and age. In orientation, we were reminded that we are replaceable. There's plenty of other saps who would gladly take our place.
