What is Driver Qualification File software?
A Driver Qualification File (DQF) is the file every motor carrier is required to keep on each CDL driver under 49 CFR §391. It contains the driver application, MVR, medical examiner certificate, road test certificate, safety performance history from previous employers (§391.23), and the annual review of driving record. If a single document expires or goes missing, the carrier fails the audit — even if the driver is performing perfectly.
DQF software replaces the binder, the spreadsheet, and the email folder. It stores every document, tracks expiration dates, and produces an audit-ready packet on demand. Yes. The DQF module tracks every document the FMCSA requires under 49 CFR §391.51 (driver qualification files), including the application, MVR, medical certificate, road test, safety performance history requests, drug testing records, and annual reviews. Every uploaded document is filed under its document type.
How long does it take to set up?
About 15 minutes for the first driver template. After that, new driver onboarding typically takes 20-45 minutes, from invitation to fully-signed DQF. There's no bulk import for drivers you already employ: send each of them the application link and their file builds the same way.
Do you handle §391.23 safety performance history requests automatically?
Yes. As soon as a driver finishes the application, Oculus emails every previous DOT employer the driver listed, with the §391.23 request form. We track responses, send reminders at 3, 7 and 14 days, and record a no-response at 30 days so you can document your good-faith effort.

Does it integrate with Checkr, Clearinghouse, or my drug-testing provider?
No. Oculus doesn't run Clearinghouse queries or order drug tests: the driver e-signs the Clearinghouse consent in the application, and you upload query and test results to their DQF.
